W7 had an update today, allowed it to go through its rigmaroll and on restarting it's just sat there on the welcome screen.

We were getting along so well, I hope this isn't going to be the beginnings of a really pants relationship... if so then it will be consigned to being a gaming OS and I'll just continue usin Ubuntu for serious work...

Hmm, all is well, W7 threw a wobbler because it didn't like Poweriso auto-mounting an image on restart.

I wouldn't have wanted it to do this anyway, so it's not a problem... anyway... please move along now, nothing to see here... :)

I thought W7 had a delay program bootup facility?

In a computer mag I found a bunch of progs which emulated W& features.
The only one I liked and use with both vista and XP is startup delayer.

www.r2.com.au
<a href="http://www.r2.com.au" target="_blank">linky</a>

allows a quick boot with the non vital stuff starting up minutes later, or you can cancel them starting altogether.

I don't really need it to boot with a mounted image, it's just that PowerISO was evidently being a problem.

W7 wouldn't have Alcohol120 at all, which is what I had used in the past simply because it did the job I wanted it to. Now I use PowerISO for BF2 so that I don't have to drop in a DVD whenever I want to play. So it really isn't a big issue just to tell it to mount an image when I need it to.

This time I'm going to keep my desktop as clear as possible of shortcuts. It's taking some self-discipline to click Start, then Programs and then running an app that way. My desktop used to be littered with shortcuts... littered. I didn't have any problems finding things until I had to install a new video card which would reset my resolution and then when I had everything back to normal all my shortcuts would be on one side of the screen and not as I was familiar with... but none of that has anything to do with W7 and mounting an image does it... How did I get here then?

Yes, yes, yes... we all know how this works... they then decided to grow a Mulberry tree in the back garden, "and guess what they found under the Mulberry tree?" (in that cootchy cootchy way) etc, etc... didn't you think I knew about Mulberry tree's, eh Bob? Tsk...
