Goodbye Tony!

Look back to 1997 and tell me the country was better off then than it is now?
He's not done that bad.....
Not to mention his good looking wife

I think the country is in a generally worse state than back in 1997. The amount of debt that both people and the country are in has sky rocketed. It can't continue and I'd say with the stability offered by blair, now gone we may just see all the problems come home to roost.
A more interesting point is what the MPC is going to do with interest rates. stick with 25 basis point rise or 50 in two short hops.

Ooooo Politics!!!! /me rolls up sleeves
I didn't vote for the guy but have broadly been supportive of him. To suggest anyone else could have done (or will do) better is stretching credibility.
The most apt critisism I have heard of him was from a caller into the breakfast show this morning who said that he has been one of the worst PMs for civil liberties. Ban this ban that, ban everything that doesnt conform. This is the sad face of Britain today, but I am not sure it's his fault, just him following the mood of the country.

Tony did get the unemployment numbers down, don't forget that, it is a good thing for us all ( More People paying taxes) But the down side is the way that he did it. The Gov has employed more ppl than Tesco, that cannot last they are just paying their own wages.
Crime is down, Gun Crime is up.
His Gov has done good things but they have also messed up. Could his term been better, could someone else have done better. I for one can't really say.

What does it for me is the constant attacks on motorists, the 'green' issues and the blindly following the yanks to war.
War isn't the only answer, nor are motorists to blame for the greenhouse effect.
The green issues really get my goat because there are so many options, money could be so much better spent.
Is he worse than the next? probably not.
quite sad really

Quoted as Hippy has some very good points that I missed.
The war thing well yes there are other ways of doing things, Motorists well I walk or cycle everywhere so they don't really matter to me so much but I do understand what Hippy is saying. The Gov needs to stop taking money from Oil Companies and start investing in renewable power sources, For Nellies sake We the Brits live on a FU@ING Windy ISLAND, Wave power, wind power and Solar power are all needed on a world scale not just the UK.
Seems to me that these 2 points are more about OIL and the control of than politics.
