1st 128K took 266 ms = 492752 Bytes/sec = approx 4100 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 265 ms = 494611 Bytes/sec = approx 4115 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 281 ms = 466448 Bytes/sec = approx 3881 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 250 ms = 524288 Bytes/sec = approx 4362 kbits/sec

These results appear to be rather fast: maybe this page was in the browser cache.

Looking at your results you both have 4Mbps connections, is that right? I'm just trying to gauge whether this link is accurate.

If you try it more than once you need to clear your browser cache... but you prolly know that already.

Ah, I see where I went wrong in what I said... what is recorded here are download speeds... overall bandwidth is calculated by adding both your upload and download speeds together.

Sadly, mine is skipping between a dial-up connection and occasionally 1Mbps.

Ah well, I only need wait until Thursday... <_<

I get 5.5-6 out of my 8Mb conn, but theres something weird in my results going on.

Thats not a 13Mb speed for the first 128Kb is it?

If you get that every time after clearing your browser cache then it could be due to where you are and bandwidth contention ratios, etc.

To be honest, I don't actually know how reliable this method is, it's just something VM suggested and I wanted to find out if others agreed with the results they got from it.

Latest incarnation of that speed test breaks it down to average Mbit aswell.
