Earlier there was talk of Games on Linux. Well I was searching to see if Neverwinter nights 2 would be released on Linux and I found this 58 pages of Linux Users wanting Atari to release a Mac/Linux version using OpenGL. I wouldn't bother reading it unless your into that should of thing but BIOWARE have said that OpenGL is just as powerful as directX.
Now with that said why don't more Dev's use OpenGL 2.0 instead of DirectX so that their product can reach more ppl, Well It's because of MicroSoft and the money taht they throw at everything. The Linux users I know and speak to on the net they are more than happy to buy Games on Linux because most of the another apps are free, Where as the Windows users that I know grugde paying for anything as they have to pay for everything. But as with everything once they start if they start making games for Linux ppl will downlaod them for free.
After saying that there are many many Good games for linux UT2004 ,Quake 4 and Doom 3 to name a few HeadLiners. But apart from that many games that Windows Users have never heard of: Tux Racer, Super Tux and Queist which are free and the list of games that come in the box with SuSE Linux is huge. Companies are releasing games but they do not have the money to release the big titles.
Software for Linux is mostly free and does the job that all Windows apps do just without the shiny bits. A couple of things that you should be aware of are : you do NOT get spyware on Linux, Viruses are rarer than a inner-city virgin, Linux is moduler which means that no matter how many programs you install and uninstall your system will not slow down or lose proformance.
