i have recently been attacked

can anyone recommend a decent one i have been using AVG in the past but i noticed hammers piorate one has expired

I just use the Microsoft one, depends what you do on the web and how many dodgy sites you visit lol

Avast is as good as AVG, if not better.

None of them are 100%. I back mine up with MBAM sweeps.

For windows 7 I just use Microsoft Security Essentials.

For XP I use ESET Nod 32

This is always better than a recommendation in my experience

AVG was great many years ago, but for donkey's years I've been using Avast, the free version and I've never been hit successfully by anything.

I think Norton's and McAfee... hmm... I'm trying to think of something bad to call them, but I can't think of anything bad enough...

Malwarebytes is great for getting rid of infestations, and if you really want to get heavy with something there is Hijakthis, and combifix... but they're more useful when dealing with the fallout of an attack.

If you bank with Barclays you can get a free key for kaspersky...Its the best AV around.

+2 for Avast i used to use Nod32 until the site no longer got updated.
Not looked back since using Avast (though the lady popping up every now and then saying
im updated does P me off)

I would have to agree, though corporate versions are less "shiny" on the interface which i prefer.
