What does it do? Is it just a fancy USB Hub?

Yes it's a USB hub, coupled with a stress reliever, once you've gone through the arming procedure, which I believe has to be done in order, you then press the launch button & it makes a firing noise. I did read that somebody was trying to mod it for added functionality, like, wiping a drive etc.
