Anyone know if you can split the fan apart for cleaning purposes (or indeed procure a spare)? Mine's making a dreadful noise.. think it must have Eagle's knife stuck in it.....

Are you absolutely sure it's the video card, and not a PSU, case, or CPU fan?

Also have a look to see if there are any cables or such like interfering with the fan.

There are a couple of duff 4870's going on eBay at the mo, which you could cannibalise. I've not had a look to see how easy it is to remove the fan. On an older model there were just four screws.

When the 4870 was in it's prime a lot of people fitted an after market cooler, which has its own fan. Getting one of these may be a better option if you can find one cheap.

Absolutely certain it's the GPU, the fan is very easy to remove from the heatsink, just a connector and three screws...

If the fgans knackered then ebay/maplin etc would be your best bet although I'd go the whole hog and replace the entire lot as per Hummers suggestion..

Contact the manufacturer first and see if they will send you one, I've done that before and received a new fan gratis.

Don't forget the thermal paste and ESD concerns whichever option you go for.
