Yeah look nice Nelly, but they are all missing a vital bit of kit!!! A qwerty keyboard. I suppose you could attach a usb one but then that would mean carrying more stuff around with you. If only they could figure out a way of integrating one into the chassis, maybe on a hinge on the bottom of the screen. That would be great
Saw something similar the other day Ras.

Serves me right for being a smart arse. Nice find Nelly
Was it running XP? If it was the same one then it was more of a portable display working on a similar principle to a graphics tablet. It didn't have a true touch screen and was trying to force XP to run some heavy apps to achieve something similar to what you would call a Tablet PC now. XP really didn't have the architecture for it, however, W7 does which makes things easier for the hardware vendors.Trig wrote: NOt really a fan of tablets, had one on test yeaaaars ago, some Compaq thing, wasnt a bad bit of kit to be fair but too slow..
I'm gonna get me a Tablet some time in the near future, when the dust settles as to who has the best to offer.
Nelly, that's a good link to the 'USB Keyboard that sits in the unit' video. I could be wrong, but having a hinged mechanism on a 'large' portable device like that is going to be problematic. There are two reasons I can think of for saying this. Firstly, if semi-physically attached then it is something to break, or at least loosen.
Secondly, a detached keyboard can be angled and a distance suitable to the user. If it was attached to the device then the only adjustment factor would be the angle of the display. Having an on-screen keyboard may put you in the same position, but as it is software there would eventually be different styles of keyboards to select, including on-screen size.
The best option, for those who would use it, would be the detached keyboard. Whether it sits in the back of the device as demonstrated in the video, or whether it has it's own pocket in the 'wallet' you carry the tablet around in.

Just be a nutter... life becomes much more exciting, and people won't expect anything more of you...
I would not need a keyboard, the on-screen one will be fine for my needs.
