Well... it installs really quick despite being just over a Gig in size.

For some reason it didn't pick up my Veteran status, but maybe that's not for the demo...

I think this is going to be one of those games that you either love it or hate it.

I'm not going to say anymore until you've had a go at it. :D

I've never played Halo, but I've seen clips, is there any comparison?

I really like the "Get the Titan" map as that has a definite complexity to it. There is also the futuristic BF2 gameplay type map where you are cap'ping bases as such.

The vehicles look and sound gorgeous... the APC looks like the one in Aliens... the visual effects are amazing, such as the impact of EMP's, when flying and you manage to stay up long enough you know that you are seeing the world through a video system - and you get a feel for it being realistic. It really brings the kid out in me. :D

The demo is certainly a very constrained version of the full game, in fact I'm not sure if the demo will actually do the full game any justice.

I was a little unsure of the game at the outset, especially when I couldn't work out how to get off the Titan, fly the flying things, or know which way to run due to a lack of familiarity with the map... but that's what makes a game fun... when you need to learn how to play it - it makes the eventual outcome of acheiving some status all the sweeter. :D

And yep... there is fishing... :fish:

I've never played BF:1942, loved BF:V, am head over heels for BF:2, and I hope that BF:2142 will prove to be as rewarding as all of them put together... but it's important to remember that they are all different games in their own way.

As with BF2, it's all cutting edge stuff, and an immense amount of thought has been put into it. B)

You can add your tag afterwards, once you have activated your account... This demo is really basic compared to what the full game is going to be. :)

I liked it. The helijet thing is fun, the tanks sort of float about like they are on ice, titan is just like a building in the air as I can see, troop weapons are all fun but basically the same as any weapon (aim/shoot/miss :P)

The terrain of the demo map is like volcanic i suppose with good detailing if a bit sparse on the vegetation. I guess it runs so well because there aint no grass swaying in the breeze.

Well I would buy it only if others do. We need a poll to gauge interest in a few days mebbe.

Why is BF2142 trying to access the internet periodically when it is not being used? BF2 does this also.

What in the hell is it trying to do?

I allowed it access. I am running COMODO free firewall and really like it.

I've been an avid fan of the BF series, owning the complete collection from BF1942 through to BF2 & all expansions, but it's the end of the line for me, aside from being shafted with BF2 & it's many bugs with no support or fix, I just don't do 'Space games', it's a genre that's never appealed to me & for that reason, I'm out!!! :D

It should be at worst an addon, I see little or no difference in the engine and I'll not be spending my hard earned on the game I'm afraid.

I prefer the nitty gritty war of BF2 but even thats missing the radio that BF Vietnam had.

Good fun but not for me I'm afraid!

No, that's your "soldier" name, the username is your master account name, if I have explained that properly.

If you don't know or remember these details you can get them resent to you via this link:

<a href="http://ea.pogo.com/login/napd-login.jsp ... id=8001832" target="_blank">EA Site</a>

Use the "Forgotten Member Name" option. It should ask you for your e-mail address and then all will become clear. :)

Some unscrupulous numpty has already taken the name Claw for some reason... but I'm not that bothered because I've now got Iron Claw... such a formidable sounding name will put the wind up any oncoming enemy... Image

Undecided here but no plans to get it at the moment. BF2 is all about teamwork and that doesn’t happen, 2142 will be the same. I’m enjoying AAO again and have regained my enthusiasm for it. I haven’t played BF2 since I got back into AAO.
