Loss Of Netty
Moderator: Claw
Chaps, Have rebuilt and reformatted Jaimes PC recently. Windows went on oki and installed AVG ( his net connection is wireless and the PC is not used for finance or anything of a serious nature.. so not to bothered about AV)
Updated windows on it and no probs... went to it today when he came back to me and the damn thing is throwing out.. "Cannot retrieve data" Error 1722 The RPC server is unavailable.
Now I have had to change the net cable as one of the bluddy cats has bitten thru it !! but am still unable to get on net with a new one..
Anyone know of this please ?

Ok, you need to make sure the DHCP service is running on his pc, I take it the router hands out IP addresses?

Go into control panel, then administrative tools, services
make sure the dhcp client is set to auto and running, if not double click it and set it to auto, then reboot and retry it

also just had a thought about the type of cat cable you replaced it with, just make sure it's a standard one, and not faulty as well.Nellyboy wrote: I would try a different nic card, meybe the onboard was fried with the cat incident?
