Overclocking Noob Alert!!!

Hey fellas, I thought I would share this with you.


In my first real attempt at overclocking I thought I had reduced the multiplyer and upped the fsb correctly.

This would give my core2duo a nice overclock from 2.4ghz to 3ghz.

Thinking all was well I have been using the computer for weeks now and it is really snappy and responsive.

But....................................



On checking again the settings I found that I was actually running the chip at 3.36ghz with no ill effects.
Temps of the cores was 44 up to 49 loaded.


All this on stock volts. Amazing isnt it, I didnt burn the house down.

I have backed it off a bit now just to play it safe.


Just goes to show what a good combo my asus P5B deluxe wifi with e6600 core2duo is.

I've got P5W and E6600, when I first installed it I tried it at 3ghz with no problems but didnt leave it like that. Might give an overclock a try.

Nice overclock. You need to download Prime95 and run the torture test. This will tell you if you system is truly stable. Let it run for about 8 hrs if you have no errors after that it's fine.

If your planning on really pushing it turn off speedstep or whatever its called this month.
