Re: Hello from long ago
tbh we dont get to see a lot of the racing, we get there a week before the event, get everything setup and tested, teams arrive 3-4 days before the race, we test their kit before each session then pretty much sit in the office waiting for stuff to go wrong or people to bring us stuff to fix, we listen to all of the teams, cars, organisational stuff and tend to pick issues with audio stuff up and go see people before they actually tell us its a problem, we do a lot more on the Extreme-E side at the mo as we have some pretty funky kit we're developing but we do all of the comms for the site, security, marshalls, everyone and then links from the cars to TV, so anything you hear comes via us.

Not doing too badly here.
Wish I could contemplate retirement but got a few years until that's going to be a worry.
Glad to see you are all kicking about, I still play CSGO once in a blue moon

Not really, I went from 'server admin guy' to CCTV/Security stuff as its all connected to the internet and the end of a Cat5 cable these days, then when I decided that job was going to get the MD killed I left, and now I do comms stuff, but again, it plugs into a Cat5 cable so having a base background in IT helps..Claw wrote:From server admin guy to international hot rod... that's some career move!Trig wrote:Working in motorsport these days.

Plus I get to travel which I quite like..
So far this year I've been to the following
Saudi Arabia - Formula E
Saudi Arabia - Extreme E
Monaco - Formula E
Senegal - Extreme E
Mexico - Formula E
Belgium - Spa24
LeMans - LM24/RTLM
Greenland - Extreme E
Sardinia - Extreme E
I'll get back from Sardinia early hours of Friday morning, then I'm not out anywhere again until mid-December when its the last race of the Extreme E season...
....in Bovington...
Hoping to get on the Formula E crew for next year (I'm only a reserve for them at the mo) as its more races in better places, where Extreme E, there's only 5 races a year and while you end up in places (other than Bovington) that you probably wouldn't go to usually, a full FE season is 11/12 races which means a bit more cheese which means debts can be fucked off faster..
