Hi Folks,
Right help a thicko out :)
Is AMD still alive or is it all about the bridges of Intel these days? I never seeem to see anyone talkin about their AMD just sandy bridge this and ivy bridge that. Is it worth buy Sandy bridge now? If someone was to be on a £300 budget what sort of hardware/performance should he expect? That budget would have to cover cpu, ram, motherboard and graphics card :( u never know maybe someone will love my crap and I'll have a £500 budget :D
has ATI disapeared too? is it all about nVidia these days?

What requirements do you have for the kit you're going to buy?
Does it have to be new or will used do?

Well cos I'm a stubborn old goat that is the last to move on (sisters words not mine :D ) its all about CS and now CS:beta but I would like to try bf3 out and see what u all get up to. Stable fps is a must but higher the better obviously. I can play any game with lowest graphics settings as I'm more gameplay over cosmetics. As for olld or new hell ANYTHING WILL DO :D I'm not bothered about that its only the Benjamins I'm bothered about :D

Well I'm sure between us we can sort you out with some hardware.

I've got some DDR3, hard drive and an HD6870 graphics card.

RAM is Vengence stuff, DDR3-1600 iirc, 4x4Gb sticks.
Graphics Card is a Sapphire HD6780 with Accerlero/Turbo Module.
Drive is 60Gb Vertex 2 SSD.

You'll probably want a few other bits, anyone else going to chime in with a list of older bits they have?

Well looks like I blew my budget but this looks like the rig so far:
i5 ivy 3570k (was going for an i3 sandy bridge and impulsed on this lol)
Asus P8Z68 V Pro
Trigs Sapphire HD6870
Trigs 8Gb DDR3
Trigs 60Gb SSD
BeQuiet 530W psu
Antec 300

I think two things are new and the rest used but I was on a budget. Christ now I really do need to get on ebay and sell sell sell :D

Now gotta wait for the stuff to come. Apart from all that I think I'm more excited waiting on an old RAID card poppin through the door and finally get my old dual 2800+MP RAID 0 and see if there is any diff :D I love that old dualie :)
