I was just checking out some 1TB SATA drives in eBay and I found there are people selling dead drives. Clearly advertised as spares or repairs. Why would someone want to buy a dead drive? What's more, why would they want to spend at least a tenner, and postage on top of that?

perhaps some make warranty claims and get a new drive for peanuts, maybe someone will use two or three to make a good un. Perhaps they are good for clay pidgin shooting?
I can think of a couple of people i wouldn't mind giving a good battering, a hdd in a stocking would do them good.
