Due to all the flooding in Thailand, 70-80% of the motors used in HDD's are produced in Thailand, also WD produce a vast amount of drives in the country
2TB drives are now around the £80 mark and might get higher
Be interesting to see how retailers respond to this, the drives they have in stock and the ones currently "in the chain" wont be effected but newer ones will, so tbh prices shouldnt go up for ~2 months..
Scan had put a post up two weeks ago on their Facebook page saying of the price increase of around 4% from last week. Also they posted last week about the 10%-20% price increase from this week. They also said that they would hold prices until yesterday and that they would keep their stock for retail customers and stop supplying to the trade until after Christmas.
Even Ocuk said last week on their Facebook page about price increases from this week.
