Old drives with old firmware got into serious performance issues as they got to being full. Later drives improved this, for best results you want Linux/W7 and an SSD that supports TRIM.

Never tried one of those, all mine have been OCZ drives, 30gb Agility, 60Gb Agility, 60Gb Vertex and now a 90Gb Vertex2..

Are you not supposed to leave noral drives about 20% empty as well though?

You had to leave at least 5% to defragment in Win XP and it was recommended that you leave at least 10% so not alot different to SSD's.

Clingy, the Kingston SSD Now 100 - 128GB looks as though it uses the JMicron controller that had a huge amount of performance issues. Intels controllers have implemented garbage collection/TRIM and haven't got the same problems, believe Samsung and Toshiba and also later JMicron controllers don't suffer with same issues, again in part down to garbage collection.

Just got a vertex 2e which is amazing really speeded up boot and application load times :)
