Does anyone know, or know anyone who works for Honda?

I have a 2001 Honda Accord Sport 1.8 Vtec

Its due a service, but what I want to know, is what is done in both its normal service and its big service?

The big service, which the dealer is recommending, is around £350 of which i dont have...

What could happen if i dont get it serviced?

If i could find out what they actually do, i might be able to get it done elsewhere...

Thanks

Andy

Any good garage will know exactly what Honda do at the service intervals. I would go to a garage you trust and just ask. Cant hurt.

this is what is needed according to the service book

Oil Change
Oil Filter
Air Cleaner Element
Inspect & adjust valve clearances
Fuel Filter
Spark Plugs
Inspect & adjust drive belts
Washer Bottle
Check Engine Coolant System
Replace Transmission Fluid
Change oil
Inspect front & rear brakes
replace brake fluid inc abs
check & adjust parking brake
check lights alignment/operation
And visually inspect a list of other things

Seems a hell of a lot there, might cost me more that £350 to have it done

Im at 54600 and i missed the 45k service, should i do the 45k & big 54k service or could it wait for the 63k service?

recommend any independent Honda specialists in leicestershire?

The expensive part is the labour as the valve clearances take a bit of time due to the VTEC system.

The car is now out of Honda warranty so you dont need to get it done at all but I would recommend its done albeit not necessarily at a main dealer. Any decent garage can do it.

I could get the service thing printed out from our Honda dealership when I go back in on Sat if you want to see whats done and how long etc.

Aye Richie, that would be great

As i missed the 45k service, would it be ok just to do the 54k one, all be that it doesnt quite to the same thing, or both services combined?

Thanks

just the larger service as you'll probably see that they do the same in both plus extra in bigger service. more or less
