I've had a bit plat around this afternoon.
When you can get on a server the game is bloody brilliant.
The atmosphere is very good. Tried the UAV which is a mini helicopter you can fly around the map and call in arty.
Earned a couple of unlocks so I've a few weapons to try.
Just need EA to fix connection issues and get some games with the clan with comms running.

Request sent Nell's & another to you H.

Sorry Eagle, I missed your message last night, it probably came through whilst I had my head in my hands in despair at the awfully slow server browser. I did the trick to tick all the boxes, ranked,pb etc etc but then it only shows up a handful of servers. Xfire won't let you join the server your friends are in :(

Will continue to persevere but it's getting real old, real quick.

What are we doing about comms??

Dated from the 5th March

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Updates to the servers now and soon
We are sending out new servers to our providers called "R5". They will be testing them out and changing over the servers by tomorrow evening. This server contains some fixes for the "Connection to the server has been lost" message that a lot of you will have seen.

We are also working on making another new server over the weekend as EA has set up some dedicated front-end boxes just for Battlefield Bad Company 2 which we will update the server to use and should work to improve the stability of connections to EA for everyone.

What are we doing about comms??

The reason for the message last night was to let you know that me and mega were in xfire and we were in the "gsv" chatroom.

in your xfire browser on the lefthand side the 2nd tab down is chatrooms.

Once you have been invited you can join the chatroom and enable voice comms.

Afterwards the chatroom will be in your recently visited list so that you can then join at any time.

I think we should try the xfire solution for a bit to see if its any good, if not then perhaps think about a TS server.

When browsing for servers I find that its best to change the search parameters to "conquest" "ranked" "not Full" "no password"

If you tick the punkbuster box you get very minimal results but if you leave it unticked you get hundreds.

Would seem that people are shying away from it, probably coz its crap as we all well know.

There was an instance last night however when me and john were playing that 2 guys that were on our team had some strange things going on with their rank.

If you look on the squad screen you see your rank insignia next to your name but these guys rank was cycling through everything continuously.

Not sure what that was all about but time will tell i guess.

EDIT

found this, looks like its a bug

Right after getting kicked from PB (failure to INIT) I've been playing around. I've ran the test from the PB folder on the BC2 DVD and the data is failing to receive at my end. I've set my firewall up to allow data in and out on BC2 and PB. and the tests fails.
I've reran the tests with the firewall disabled and the tests run. I running ESET Internet Security v4.

I now need to change my Firewall and AV. What are you guys running.

I downloaded the pb updater, ran it and it updated pb. Could not join any servers at all, it don't hang just sits there. Tried running game as admin too, no joy.

Now I can join for 10 secs with pb init failure. PB is up to date, ran the thing on the dvd and it passes.

Nothing is being said on the PB website.

These problems wouldn't make me choose to not buy the game. But the problems being reported at the moment centre on just PB. I wonder if their PB servers can't handle the demand at the moment? Considering the interest in this game, it wouldn't be surprising to hear their servers are max'd out.

You'll probably find that by the weekend this will have been sorted out. All the same it's a poor start and I'm sorry to hear about your problems.

I've changed my ISS to Avast. So far no more PB problems. Still get the connection error now and again, DICE are to sort this out in the next patch. This shouldn't be to far away as a lot of people are having problems.
Some server Admins haven't updated the server side of PB, this may explain the odd kick from PB because the versions of PB aren't the same.

The PB check on the BC2 DVD passes ok now.

Well so far I'm enjoying this game. The GFX are great the gameplay atmosphere is awesome. Still a lot to learn, the maps and the kit.
We we get online together with some comms the squad play should be great. Only 4 men in a squad though.
Just set me assault guy to carry the laser darts instead of the pistol. When you mark a target i,e a tank the engineers RPG will track the dart. Very handy for moving vehicles.
Had a couple of epic fails one in a chopper and one when i went to C4 a tank. Someone blew it up my C4 exploded and killed me nice suicide got a few points for it, lol

On 2-10 today so will be on after work.
