Well Carlisle's £38 Million pound flood defences held up last night and kept the city safe. These were built after the floods here in 2005. Cockermouth did not do so well as 3 rivers burst their banks and flooded Main Street.

These will be the pictures you see on the news today. I really feel sorry for those affected. In 2005 we didn't get flooded but the city's power station did. We had no power for 4 days.

Apparently 314mm of rain was recorded to have fallen in 24hrs which is the highest amount ever recorded since records began.

More heavy rain is due here Saturday.

These reports have been surprising and saddening, you'd have thought they (the bods in charge) would have been better prepared.

Watching the news, the people affected are showing a tremendous resolve, I really admire them.
Just be a nutter... life becomes much more exciting, and people won't expect anything more of you...
