Yeah just thought I'd have a quick look before I go to work.

May try tomorrow, may just uninstall steam and get the AAO3 torrent.

Dumped the steam crap and using the aa3deployclient, nearly there. What a shower steam is.

On reflection and after hours of frustration i am dumping this crap and waiting for Arma 2. Terrible shame.

Well downloaded and installed via the deploy system.

Launch game and try to create an account and the program just hangs on step 1!

Well what can I say

Even after preloading the game it decided it had to download more stuff and because the servers were so busy it just wouldnt download.

So I downloaded it via deploy and installed that.

The game wouldnt even run, it just said Americas Army has encountered an error and will stop.

So in the end I left Steam running to update it over night.

This morning it was 100% ready so when I got home from work I fired it up via steam.

It was touch and go as to whether or not it logged in as it kept giving Auth errors.

Eventually I logged in and set up my keys and screen res etc

I even managed to start the training but after the first obstacle course it waited 10 minutes trying to update with the auth servers

So I quit and started again and managed to auth update after completing the obstacle course again.

Next training mission was Marksmanship which managed to lock up the whole game whilst trying that.

I was sceptical about playing this anyway as I didnt like AA1 or 2 but it doesnt really inspire confidence to keep trying tbh

You supposedly can link it to your AA2 account

But I aint played since AA1 so I got to start again

couldn't get it to link to old account.
Tried the obstacle course.
GFX are 'orrible. This my card's fault?
I know there's something wrong here, looking at the green eyes and the pink bushes.

The whe I tried to go prone and roll, it just wuldn't have it. icon says I'm prone, but just wouldn't roll.....

will try to rejig the gfx, but not overly hopeful.

So far I've had to do the obstacle course 5 times.

The 1st time when I completed it the servers wouldnt update so i had to quit and start again.

The 2nd time I completed it the servers did update and unlocked the next event which was the marksmanship bit.

However when Icompleted that event the servers wouldnt update again so I had to quit.

When I restarted, the markmanship event wasnt unlocked, so i had to do the obstacle course again to unlock it again.

This happened 4 times so I'm still having to do the obstacle again to be able to move on.

Hmm by the time I get my puter put back together it sounds like the auth servers might have some free cycles to let me try it out lol

Well after trying several times yesterday to get passed marksmanship qualifying I finally gave up as I read on some forums that lots of people were getting the same problem.

Every time you complete the qualifying it just goes back to start.

Anyway, when I got home from work today I logged in and found my acheivements had been added so I was now able to do the next stage.

This was 3 stages, Grenade Launcher, M249 support weapon and Hand Grenades.

I qualified every stage with 100% accuracy and when returning to the Drill Sergeant to update it showed fail on every stage, although the summary was showing 72 of 72 targets hit, 100% accuracy.

So I guess I wait til tomorrow for the stats to update.

At this rate I might complete the training by christmas
