My sister is getting her boy a laptop and has been looking around at whats available

kind of narrowed it down to 2 but any thoughts welcome

<a href="http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog/ca ... xedcode=WW" target="_blank">http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog/ca ... code=WW</a>

Dont really wanna be paying any more than the top price of these 2.

I realise they both have shared graphics which for the price is all you'll get.

If you can go for the Core 2 duo processors...

As you say if you are getting a laptop at these prices then graphics will be mediocre but will still look pretty.

Since resources are limitied, I would go for Xp, but it depends on your needs/wants.

PC World do a 3 user licence for Kapersky internet security for £30, an absolute bargain.

My advice is don't buy an Acer or a Fujitsu Siemens, we get tons of those in for repair every day, however HP's only come in for repair when they've had accidental damage (usually smashed screens when they've been dropped) So I can recommend HP, decent kit.

For work I only ever buy HP, Sony or Toshiba. There were some excellent Toshiba lappys around before Xmas at very cheap prices....Core Duo, 2GB DVD 15.4" etc for under £400.

I Agree with Inoshishi on acer lappy. althought both Ras and myself have an acer each. I think we both have been lucky with them. I was getting them cheep a while back anyway, the first lot kept giving up the ghost.

Aye I've got 2 myself, but they were free :P

I wouldn't spend my hard earned cash on them that's for sure.
