America's Army Situation Reports has posted an update on Version 2.7 Steamroller. There is a lot of info and screenshots. More vertical play. i.e. higer buildings (BF2) Full story and pictures <a href="http://www.americasarmy.com/community/sitrep_090906.php" target="_blank">here</a>

Looks good BF2 style map with AAO gameplay. :)

Cant say I,m looking forward to the humvee,s in game but the SAI map looks usefull though hardly reallistic ,methinks its just another dumbing down of the game , I imagine some of the beta testers started crying after they introduced random spawn points because they kept getting lost so theyve brought out SAI

Well the game's atmosphere has generally improved, sound could do with a little invigoration now too. You can tell they have learned from the kick in the pants BF2 and CS:S have given it.

Anyways... I'm all installed and I don't have to go through training! Image

Went on about midnight and played until 02:00 cos I couldn't sleep... but had quite a good time. :D

I was playing on a map where all the buildings had wooden partitioned interiors and a dilapidated church - and didn't have a clue what to do there. My first kill was a targeted TK until I realised I should only shoot at those for whom my sight goes red... and once the other guys had realised I was a n00b I became the team decoy - "Claw... go into next room and keep pressing M... hold M down" <_<

There was one tactic I was quite proud of though... an enemy was hiding at the base of the church tower and had wounded me... and I had seen a team mate just around the corner from him so I didn't feel comfortable nading him, neither did I feel confident that as wounded I would win a rush... so I threw a smoke nade in the hope he would panic and run for it as it landed... it worked! It spooked him and he came running out giving me the opportunity to take him down.

I was playing really badly before that... but that spurred me on to playing for another hour. B)

Aaaah Mt Mckenna (<a href="http://www.americasarmy.com/intel/map_mckenna.php" target="_blank">http://www.americasarmy.com/intel/map_mckenna.php</a>)
, When I first started playing you had to play each tour of duty in order and score a set amount of points before you could progress , Mt Mckenna was the first map, basically it was the online version of the shoot house you play in basic training and was a MILES map (<a href="http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/miles.htm" target="_blank">http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/miles.htm</a>) A good map that lets you grasp the basic,s of AAO quite well .
A CS style rush(Going Rambo) usually gets you killed very quickly but a good map for getting honor points on so that you can quickly get the required honor to play SF ;)
