Installed Vista x64 today.... Seems pretty cool now I have all the drivers for it. Quite like the sidebar TBH as I have added other stuff to it. Will possibly get on my tits later but its cool for now :)

Anyone else on it and had any probs or anything ??

One thing that DOES bug me is the constant "double checking" of various things like clicking device manager etc....

Well running fine on my setup and it shows a Base Score of 5.0 overall which MS says -

<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->
A computer with a base score of 4 or 5 is able to run all new features of Windows Vista with full functionality, and it is able to support high-end, graphics-intensive experiences, such as multiplayer and 3‑D gaming and recording and playback of HDTV content. Computers with a base score of 5 were the highest performing computers available when Windows Vista was released.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

It bases this on the lowest subscore u get, of which mine were -

Processor - 5 (lowest)
Memory - 5.1
Graphics - 5.9
Gaming GFX - 5.9
HDD - 5.2

System specs are -

Processor - AMD Athlon&#153; 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+
Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB (Xtreme Edition)

Doubt 4gig is needed TBH as my PC is about a year old now and still appears to be ok :)

running vista business 32bit since it arrived in our action pack at work on both laptop and home machine.

everything works fine, just drivers need to mature.

UAC is a pain and you can either turn it off or silence it, however you must remember to run setup as the administrator on a lot of things, otherwise they dont install correctly.

also there is a problem with the latest version of xfire and vista, IE7 crawls if you have it open in the background, as soon as you close it, IE7 works fine.

Yeah, annoying that... I am part of the Administrator group and I have had a few niggles with getting access to my files on the 2nd HDD even tho Admins are full access. I have had to setup access to my own account and even then it has reset sometimes but think its sussed now :)

Didnt install ANY progs as the Administrator, just installed from my own Admin group account and no probs yet

Think MS went to the other end of the scale with it in an attempt to stop scripts/bugs/viruses doing stuff without your knowledge and shut it right down....

All in all I am pretty happy with it just now and MORE drivers/apps are available for Vista x64 than XP x64 which was a right bind TBQFH

My vista Media center machine is still sat unplugged in my living room, still no HDTV drivers or proper drivers for my tv card.

Vista on my main pc is a pain, no real cd burning software, nero isn't supported yet, Autocad works, but the license manager program doesn't.

Pretty much everything has problems, when i go to a folder that has movies in it, some .DLL crashes over and over until i come out of the folder, makes watching porn a complete pain!

<a href="http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/index.html" target="_blank">http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/index.html</a>

For the movie crashing thing, try changing the view to list and see what happens (and remove the sidebar with the info for these folders). I had this with a couple of installs of XP.....

Can't think why, but when I read this I had a flash back to the days of our original telly... moving the aerial around the place and banging the box to get a picture..

Not touched Vista yet but will prolly get it on my next lappy...

I do like Vista tbh, there is a noticable speed hit on this machine I'm on at work, and I've taken it off my spare box for now as the missus is going to have it (so I can get on my bloody PC to play games) so wanna keep it simple for her sake lol...

It does need work tho and software compatability's not great for games and stuff atm, when its a bit more mature I'll deffo be switching, thing is whats going to come after Vista cos I cant really see where else MS are going to go unless they do desktop on a cube like the advanced features on Ubuntu, be dead good for twatting about at work, someone walks in hit the button and the entire desktop flips round, save being caught out with things on the toolbar etc ;)

I have a full OEM version of nero 6 which i'd like to use, the latest update to nero 7 is supposed to work but it doesn't, even ran in compatibility mode.

I do like the multiple desktop features of some linux distro's, there must be a program somewhere that can emulate it?
Not that i'd use it because i generally dont 'twat' about at work. . . . .

S**t, just got caught on here :(
