I'm on 4 meg NTL (now VirginMedia)

Generally seems pretty good and no bandwidth limits on any packages now I believe.

I know a few people on BT/ADSL and they have limits, keep getting letters telling them they've exceeded bandwidth etc.

Depends if you're comfortable with the BT option but I would say Cable, if you can you should :)

aye cable = better imo

Same as Eagle with 4mb broadband and I get 400k+ downloads from torrents all the time, never a problem, never throttled and unlimited. As an added bonus they dont have indian call centres either!!!!

Damn the lot of you. I can't get Cable up here. I have to stick to ADSL on a BT line and only 2 Mb because the line will not support 8Mb but the exchange does, to make matters worst I could open my back window and piss on the main BT exchange in Inverness.

I could be wrong but I think there are laws against that sort of thing ;) :whis:

I'm just about to get rid of my Cable TV and I must admit it is tempting to see what sort of deal I could get if I threaten to dispose of my Telephone and Internet as well. I've read from many a forum that they will do all they can to keep you as a customer! For an extra tenner a month I could have 10mb :2t: :2t: :2t:

Yeah my mate Waxapple is in Perth, It's about half the size of Inverness but about 110 Miles south and he has 10Mb Cable but the up load is only about 1Mb. Rubbing salt into the wound they say that they are going to be putting him up to 24Mb as so as the Cable Exchange is upgraded. Still about 3-4 years ago I lived on the same street as the main BT exchange in Inverness right in the city center and they said that I was in the amber band, which is where you can just get broad band but you might get a crap service. The thing that I don't like about ADSL over the phone line is that they might say that you will be getting an 8Mb connection but most of the time you are only getting 5-6Mb, at least with my 2Mb I get 2Mb it is just the my W/Less router sucks big time.
