Anyone here on AMD cards that leaves the PC on 24/7?

Could be the next bitcoin, decent spec AMD cards are making money on this sort of thing still.

Dont ask me how you can make money from the GPU number crunching though, makes no sense to me but basically you "mine" and get a small chunk of an LTC for doing it, 1 LTC is around the $38 mark at the mo, if it goes the way of bitcoin then that could go to over $1000 per LTC..

There's a guide <a href="http://cryptocur.com/litecoin/litecoin-ltc-gpu-mining/" target="_blank">here</a>, but it doesn't look like it's a recent site, or it may be that it just looks basic. Then there's this <a href="https://litecoin.info/Mining_tutorials" target="_blank">Wiki</a>...

I don't use my PC so often, so there wouldn't be an issue with keeping it on 24/7. I'd just be concerned as to whether this would be worthwhile with the current cost of electricity.

Use this
<a href="https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison" target="_blank">https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison</a>
To work out what the kH/s you will generate.
Then put the figures into this.
<a href="https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc" target="_blank">https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc</a>

I've got an old 4870 and a 6870, if I can build up a spare machine to stick one of those cards into as I have one, I could be mining on 3 rigs, 2 of which would be 24/7 one, my main rig would be 20/7..
Stick all of those figures into the calc and I get the following
<a href="https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc?hashr ... rrency=GBP" target="_blank">https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc?hashr ... ncy=GBP</a>

One my main PC thats on all the time on DC, P2Ping etc.

<a href="https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc?hashr ... rrency=GBP" target="_blank">https://www.litecoinpool.org/calc?hashr ... ncy=GBP</a>

Power W is probably not right, and I've used the same cost that Trig has, but this looks like it might be worth trying.....

I've DL'd the files listed under the wiki, first problem is that regs are closed for 'Coinotron' and I cant figure out where to register under the suggested alternative'Give me coins'.
There seems to be another alternative for 'Lite Guardian' which requires an invite.

Not got time to look into it now, and there's a lot more reading to be done to figure out how this works.

I can set you up as a worker for mine and then fire you over a batch file with all the config in it, so far between me and compo we're on 0.27 LTC but thats me running about 250kH/s 24/7 and him dropping on a few hours a night with his machines, takes us upto about 965 but only for a few hours a night, will be getting new cards shortly lol

EON power is ~17.2ppkw

I've been glancing over this at <a href="http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showth ... t=18560800" target="_blank">OcUK forums</a> this week. A few people have been buying 7990 to mine on.
Now OcUK have sold all there stock and the cards are shooting back up in price everywhere else. Ideally you want your cards water cooled if you are running them 100% 24/7.

You can tweak from the command line on cgminer to lower the core utilisation as well as the voltage and fan control.

Bitcoin itself is hard to mine and pointless unless you have dedicated hard ware, some of the other coins are easier to mine so the idea would be to run off a months worth of coins and then move to the next, then leave them sat in the bank until the price per coin goes up.
Bitcoin can be done with asic hardware, costs a bomb but has a high hash rate, the other coins don't have the asics available yet so you can still do cpu and gpu mining, when they bring out the asics, i'd stop and just wait for the price to rise...

Yeah got my main rig and a rig built from spares chugging away.
Cryptocoin as a whole seems to be taking a bit of a downturn at the mo, china seems to be causing issues as do some of the banks in the states..

Ok got any links as to where to start mining.

What software do I need, for AMD GPU.

What pool do I join

How to I sell coins.

There seems a lot of people are jumping on the mining craze at the moment and I haven't had the time to do some proper research.

I know Litecoins are going to get harder in January when proper hardware is released to mine them on so I'm looking for a cheap coin now that hopefully I can bank and will grow later.

cgminer
Me and Compo are on multipool, basically a pool that'll switch what coins you mine based on profitability.
Depends what coins you grab, at the minute I'm sitting on all of the coins we have, part in cryptsy and part in btc-e.
Best coin at the mo seems to be WDC, best known are BTC and LTC.
