Sounds crashmongous storage fans. Doh my boot drive is a wd black.

It sounds like the green drivers are affected, the black models should be ok.
I have a 1Tb black in my system. It's been fine for over a year now.

Drive power management options/systems over the years have always had a question mark over them. It all centres on how and what they are used for.
