My pennysworth. I have been let down less by ati (amd) than nvidia over the years. Loving my asus 5850, rock solid.

Nvidia have always been rock solid for me, but this time I had an offer I felt I couldn't refuse and went for an ATI.

One historical issue ATI's have been known for is their driver issues. I've been a Linux user for many years, and for much of that time ATI just haven't wanted to acknowledge the superiority of Linux as an OS over Windows and thus haven't supported it. Things have improved which is why I was okay about getting an ATI card.

Nvidia have been quite OS friendly and I can't remember ever having a driver issue with them in either Windows or Linux.

So, when it comes to my next card I will be going back to Nvidia. :)
Just be a nutter... life becomes much more exciting, and people won't expect anything more of you...

ATi user here, have been for ages, iirc my last Nv card was one of the original Geforce DDR cards a long long time ago, back in the day when I could afford to spend £250 every 2 years on a graphics card

Used both over the years, currently lean towards Nvidia simply out of personal preference for their drivers.

Had a couple of ATI cards die on me in the past but they were damn old at the time, and RMA'd two GTX470's in the last month which was no doubt just a faulty batch.

Currently running a Gigabyte GTX480 with no problems so far.

I'd happily go with either, never really understood the graphics card fanboyism.
