Actually, hardware prices are on the up due to the dollar and in the next month or two, DDR2 prices will start to climb again, hence i've just bought another 4GB for £33 at ebuyer before it starts.

I think we might be seeing a fairly large amount of bankruptcy sales going forward into 2009, so I'll hold out for whether prices will increase so much. Also with oil futures still at a pretty low level, even after Israel's little incursions it may allow manufacturers to maintain profits on lower retail price.
