here is a video showing the evolution of wake island from BF1942, BF2 and the Latest Edition BF3

A History Lesson for some, a reminder of how games used to be with the original having no weapons that could lock on, oh and the carrier could also be sunk in the BF1942 Version.

That was very interesting, and I never knew the carrier could be sunk in 1942. I only played 1942 a couple of times though.

Did 1942 really have a sub in it?

Yup, a few maps had them, ******s to use though.

If you had a good jap team and kept the island you could end the round by bombing the hell out of the carrier, it wasn't quick though but enough people at it it didn't take that long to sink it. It also had battle ships you could move and use the whacking great big guns on, shame these things were omitted from the games successors.
