With a release pencilled in for somewhere between Jan-March of next year, I thought I'd start a thread on probably my most anticipated game in a long time.

Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad is an upcoming WWII themed first-person shooter video game developed and published by Tripwire Interactive. It is a sequel to Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. The title will focus heavily on the Battle of Stalingrad. Publisher of the title, the 1C Company, have indicated the release date will be around Q1 2011. The developers have stated that the game will be a PC exclusive and have no plans to bring it to the consoles. The game will contain many new features including a new first person cover system combined with blind firing, first person collision detection as well as an entire new system of statistics tracking and enabling player development.

This could be the one game that pulls me off BFBC2

Anyone else interested?

Looks good. What game engine does it use?

If I remember Red Orchestra was originally a free mod for Unreal Tournament 2003-2004 so It should use the Unreal Engine. I posted a link to a demo of the latest Unreal Engine the other week.

Would probably be a GFX card upgrade for me as I think my 4890 would struggle with the latest tech'

if it's 1C that produced IL2, this could be good.

They nailed gameplay even if the gfx were not as good as others out there.

It's the UT3 engine but has been enhanced by the devs to do what they need it to do.

Well, tbh that's not new to me...

The scoping in that image is remarkable. Should imagine that if there are those that don't like BC2 HC at all, they may not like this too much.

Wonder if having an interior view of the tank in the vid' means there will be multiple operators in-game?

I think he means new to the franchise, or are you implying that you run around in the jungles of Vietnam blindly firing your weapon at anything that moves? :D

It doesn't need to move really...

Gus, or it may have been Terry, said he can't help shooting the washing you see hanging around... locals must be really miffed... :D

Speaking of the Unreal Engine, I'd love to see a remake of the original Unreal Tournament. That would be awesome with the capabilities they have now. Or is there something like that already?

I think the last UT was UT3, and as usual it seemed more tuned towards consoles, don't think it was anywhere near as popular as the old ones.

Quake Live seems popular though, and it's free Claw, www.quakelive.com

When you say UT3, are you talking about UT2003? I did get it, but only played it about twice. It seemed too frenetic and their characters too chunky.

Maybe I should fire iit up and give it a go agaiin? :)

How old is it? Watching the vid's I'm not sure my head could keep up with it all. There are vehicles and all kindsa things in it now.

All the footage I saw was console, so it didn't look so smooth. I'll have a good rummage around for more later.

Anyway, sorry to take the thread off topic!

I think it was released towards the end of 2007, I much prefer the old ones, though saying that I always preferred Quake over UT.

Apparently pressing R will tell you if the clip feels heavy or light...
I'll be honest I'm worried this game will be too realistic but I'm still going to be getting it.
I've always played CoD: W@W in that manner anyway - I've recently started to try and count the rounds - it's a hard but rewarding exercise :)
