Righty started playing cs again (well im there maybe playings not the appropiate word) and ive got an issue with my connection. Im on a 1 meg aol connection (dont laugh its cheap) and ive got a 11g wireless router (dlink 604t i think) with me on the wireless upstairs. Everythings fine and playable with a little choke. However every so often i get about 50+ loss spike and needless to say i die! Its getting wuite annoying and i wouldnt mind sorting it out. Soo any ideas? connection testers etc?

On another note i thourght it could be the pc. shuttle g5 thingy with 1gig ram 3500 and raptor drive. 7300 msi gfx card. When running cs the cpu is allways at 100%. thinking this could be an issue? What do you think?

Hi Andy, long time no see bud.. hope all's well.

I had the very same problem whilst on the GFFM server with Myo the other night. I've recently reformatted and re-installed Steam etc, but as I haven't been on any other servers yet I can't say where the prob lies.
I usually sit at under 20 ping with a 1meg ntHELL connexion..
Am running a linksys wireless, but this pc is wired into the router...so shouldn't be that.
Your pc should be more than adequate bud ! Mine also sits at 100% ...
..old 2.4 Athlon with 9800 pro card 2gig ram....

If you have any joy or if anyone can help either of us with a solution...cheers ;)

Still reckon it's something to do with your wireless. Can you run a long cable down to the modem just to test it out?
At least then you can work out where the problem lies, pc or wireless.

I've only ever had this problem with WEP enabled on the wireless.

wireless gaming blows /end get a wire in there pal and get it tested.

Though in turts case its more likely to be him nodding off for 40 winks while playing making it look like lag :D

removed autodesk mechanical, internet inproved ten fold.

removed avg and installed bit defender.
reinstalled wireless drivers (5-6 times :s)
most of loss gone, little choke (20 or so) but now the problem is

i canna access the router :(
it cuts off after an hour or so then i have to reboot to get it to reconnect :(

hate to bring the thread back n all that but..... its probably the router... D-Link's have a reputation for crashing amongst everything else under the sun.

If you ain't fixed it yet try disabling all dns discovery & DHCP functions on the router 70/30 it'll fix it :)
