After Vomit mentioning his overclocks last night I thought that I would start a post about GSV Computers and any over clocks.
So in my rig is
I7 930
24 Gigs RAM
Raid 1 2x 128Gb SSD
Biostar X58 Tpower Motherboard
GTX 570 Direct CU II

First is a front on view
[attachmentid=328]
Second is a Side on view
[attachmentid=329]
Next CPU-Z showing the overclocked CPU @3.8Ghz, Stock is 2.8Ghz
[attachmentid=330]
This is the GPU overclocked @827Mhz, Stock is 742Mhz
[attachmentid=331]

With these clocks I am getting a steady 70 FPS on BF3 set to Ultra with a res of 1900x1080
I would be interested in seeing yours.

BF3 fps? at what detail?

Would be good to start understanding what all this gives games wise as Rasputin has set the benchmark at 70fps with full glitz and pizzazz :D

Mmmm wonder when I'll build a new rig. Richie, Eagle I think we need to do a group buy :D

Got loadsa 'puters and lappys... all dual core, some AMD, some Intel, won't be bothering with SSD for a while yet until the hardware vendors have recouped their costs, and have more sensible sizes. All the towers will run BF3, but I don't remember the spec combinations.

Besides, I seem to use my phone for the 'net more lately. These were awesome mods, if only I had the time... :D

You don't use the monster TV now Ras?

F me is that playable? I sure as hell wouldnt be playing that id be going nuts :D
My lack of knowledge is so bad that I cant even tell what sort of CPU a E8500 is. All I know is that I'm shocked a cpu running at almost 4GHz cant do better. Christ this BF3 must really be a game :D

I'd happily take one of your screens for ya, if it meant you getting more fps ;) :)

Richie the more I look at that pic and re-read the specs I wonder WTF is going on!!!! Man you used to have a beast of a rig along with a sweet e39 540 :)

Guys are the SSD Hdd's worth the extra speed? Ive never used a pc with one so I have no idea. Is it worth getting a SSD for a non gaming laptop or what? plus I see Claws statement is alarmingly true and for a tiny, read 128Gb, hdd its bloody expensive!!!

Personally I love SSD's, granted with a "spinner" drive you get a bit more warning before they die clicking sounds etc where as an SSD will generally blue screen and then be dead, doesnt bother me tho as I have my WHS box so I'm always backed up..

As for having one of my screens I have 4 at one point when I was pissing about with an old HD4350 card, as nice as it was I just didnt have the desk space :lol:, anyways with vsync on 60fps is tops for me..

SSD's read almost instantly, but in older drives the writes are no different - so buy very new, not second-hand. Don't bother using them with an OS older than Windows 7 unless you want to have an additional application running in the background cleaning up after your deletes, etc.

I've always analyzed it this way, do I need my PC to boot ultra quick, or do I just need it so I can say that my PC boots ultra quick? Heavy video editing, graphic design, etc, can really benefit from an all round faster system. However, backups become a greater imperative as never before with SSD, because once an SSD goes, it has gone, and there are no performance ticks that give you a clue as to when you need to change your drive. But, this said, an SSD can potentially live for 10 years, or longer. The bigger the drive the more likely it will live longer.

A neighbors dog, that we never normally bother with, walked onto the farm with a stick and dropped it at the wife's feet. So, she picked it up and threw it. (The stick) The dog came back and dropped it at her feet again. This happened over and over again until the missus got bored and wouldn't throw the stick. The dog, after losing patience, did the weirdest of things. It began prodding her knee with it's paw. It would wait about 20 seconds and then prod. This wasn't just a pawing prod, this was a real, "Oi! Throw the stick!", prod.

Sorry... I just get bored talking PC's sometimes. Life is great, and shouldn't be lived alone. Don't let any feature or device take away from you the opportunities to have a good time with family or friends. The obsession to have all the latest kit is a similar psychologically to gambling. It can cause all the same problems. Enjoy life to the full, and have a full life. Spring is in the air, and I hope you all enjoy it greatly. :)

Anyway. I reckon that my booting into Ubuntu is very close behind that of you guys booting into Windows 7 on your SSD. Any numbers, guys? :D

That was a long, long time ago.... Life has that habit of kicking you in the nuts at times. Afterwards, you gather up what you can and get on with it....

i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz stock voltage and power saving stuff in the bios still active

8gb corsair vengeance (xmp active so is bank and rank interleaving)

using on-board sound, it sounds as good as my xonar d2 did, but works properly.

1 crucial m4 64gb ssd used solely as a cache drive for for the above raid set
1 700gb wd green (porn, warez and other stuff i dont want to loose)
1 250gb Seagate barracuda for acronis image back up of my C drive (need a bigger one sooner or later)

2 X Toshiba dvdrw drives (they were only a tenner when i bought them)
