It's been a very long time since I last heard talk like this. Talk of cohesive futuristic technological developments and ideals.

We often hear of new gadgets, and inventions or developments to improve an individual or isolated circumstance. But, to hear of projects that talk in terms of a futuristic society must be a new kind of talk to current or even recent generations.

Sounds good but the human race as a whole isn't ready for this sort of thing.

Pre-World War One this country had money to burn. The architecture we know and love in some of our older cities area testament to the leeway that was given to imagination and style. As an Empire upon which the Sun never set, this country was rolling in Lolly. So, I suppose like you say there is no financial means or will to achieve such a venture.
