Try it, you can just remove the usb stick from Readyboost and then wipe any files if any left behind. Takes seconds.

Tried it with a super fast 4gb stick, made no noticeable difference.

I think one manufacturer doesn't drop your warrenty like a brick if you root their tablet. Can't remember which atm but they were offering driver upgrades even for rooted ones.

What is it I read about ssd's that you are meant to leave about 20% of the drive empty?

Old drives with old firmware got into serious performance issues as they got to being full. Later drives improved this, for best results you want Linux/W7 and an SSD that ...
